THE LEGEND OF SAGO TREE AND PALM

Once, in Donggala district, Central Sulawesi, a married couple living with a son. They lived in an old house located in the forest edge Dolo. Their lives are very poor. To meet the daily needs, they look for fruits and other forest products around them. The longer the husband felt tired of living with that condition. Finally, it came his intention to open the land for plantations to be planted with various kinds of crops and vegetables. One day, he also expressed his good intentions to the wife.
"Oh dear! Why do not we just gardening? I'm tired of living like this, "said the husband.
How happy the wife hears her husband's plans. She felt that her husband will change to not get lazy to work.
"Bang, where we want to gardening? Do not we do not have land for gardening? "Asked the wife. "Calm down, Sis! Tomorrow I will open forest plantations to be made, "replied the husband." Well then, I agree," said the wife.
The next day, early in the morning the husband went into the woods Dolo. After some time down the forest, he found the place suitable land for plantations. Meanwhile, the wife with her child waiting at home while weeding out the grass that grows in the yard to make the snakes does not bother them.
By late afternoon, the husband came home from the forest, carrying fruits for their dinner preparations. His wife was greeted with great expectations. After serving drinks, the wife asked her husband.
“Bang, how did it go? Do you already found a place suitable land for plantations?"
"Yeah, Sis! I had found a fertile piece of land, "replied the husband.
Hearing her husband, the wife was happy. He hoped that the new job is their family life will be better someday.
"O yes, Bang! If I may know, where the land is it? "The wife asked again.
"It's not far from our house," replied the husband.
"Thank goodness, then, Bang! We do not have to walk far to get there. Then, when you will begin clearing land? "Asked the wife.
"If nothing gets in the way, tomorrow I will begin," replied the husband with full confidence.
A few moments later, it was already dark. The wife was preparing dinner potluck. After dinner, poor families are resting after nearly a day of work. The next day, early in the morning the husband went into the woods, carrying machetes and hoes. Arriving at a place that will be made of plantation land, suddenly appeared lazy nature. He was instead cleared the forest, but sat and watched trees that grow big and green in front of him. Meanwhile, his wife and son are waiting at home with great expectations. The wife expects her husband immediately clear land for plantations.
"My son! If father had finished opening the land for plantations, we can help grow vegetables and tubers in the garden, "said the mother to her child.
"Can I help it, Mother?" Asked his son.
"Certainly, my child! Your dad must be very happy if you also go to help him, "replied the mother, smiling.
By late afternoon, the husband came home from the forest. He was greeted by his wife to treat drinking water. After her husband finished drinking and feeling tired is lost, the wife went back to inquire about the results of his work that day.
"How did it go today, Bang?"
"Not yet finished, Sis!" Replied the husband. The next day, her husband returned to the forest. Arriving there, he just sat back. That's his job every day. Similarly, if asked by his wife about his work, he always answered "not finished".

Therefore curious to see the work of her husband, the wife followed him one afternoon to the forest where she worked. Arriving there, she found her husband sitting pensively, leaning under a tree. What a disappointment of his wife, because the estates had expected did not materialize.
"Bang! Estates where is it? "Asked the wife.
Hearing his wife's question, the husband rather than answer them. However, he quickly rose from his seat, then drove home with feelings of anger. Apparently, he was offended because his wife was followed into the forest. Knowing her husband was angry, his wife followed him from behind. Arriving at the house, the husband of anger rising. He vent his anger by slamming the stuff that is in the house. The wife who did not accept her husband's behavior immediately ran toward the forest, crying. Arriving in the middle of the forest, he immediately plunged into a lake. Meanwhile, her new husband realizes a result of his behavior immediately took his son to follow his wife into the woods.
"Come on my son, we meet another mom in the woods!" Said the father said, pulling her son's hand. "Okay, Daddy!" Replied his son.
Arriving in the middle of the forest, not far from the front of them saw his wife was in the middle of the lake. His body was gradually transformed into a sago tree. Looking at the event, father and son were soon dashed over the lake.
"I'm sorry, Sis! Come back! "Cried the husband.
"Mom ... Mom .... I'm coming! "Cried her son, crying.
"You stay here, my son! No need to join your mother, she soon returned, "persuaded the father.
"No Daddy! I want to join my mother, "said his son thrashed.
The father kept trying to persuade her son to stop crying. However, the child still crying and wanted to join his mother insisted. When the father off guard, the boy ran and plunged into the lake. Then suddenly it all, he transformed into a sago tree like her mother. After seeing the incident, then the husband realized and regretted all his actions.
"Forgive me, my wife! Forgive me, my child! I'm very sorry for all my actions to you, "she said, weeping tears loose.
The husband repeatedly apologized to his wife and his son. However, what about to say, rice has become porridge. Nor to regret later. His wife and son have been transformed into a sago tree. He also did not want to live alone without his wife and son. Finally, he too jumped into the lake it. At that time he also was transformed into a palm tree.
